This is a great interactive way of looking and reading the front pages of newspapers from around the world. Clicking on a paper leads you to a larger view with a link to the paper's website or a readable PDF of the front page. Check it out here.

If you still have not had to time to read through the 142 pages of Obama's new budget, check out this short article by a guy who has read it. It sounds promising and Obama's promises begin to sound more realistic, although there is a lot of long term aspects that the administration still need to figure out. One this is certain; this is a compete change from the policy trends we have seen not just over the past 4 years, but for the past 30 years.
I personally have struggled to understand how we have gotten into this credit and economic crisis. This is a wonderful little video by Jonathan Jarvis gives an excellent explanation of what has happened, and what is still happening. It is important for everyone to understand our situation, and be able to see what went wrong. Pass this along to your friends. There is a helpful infographic here and part two here also from Jarvis via. GOOD.
Humans never cease to amaze me...
The Dublin-based airline, Ryan Air its planning to start charging a dollar or two to use the lavatories. About %20 of Ryan Air's revenues come from so-called ancillary income, the money that is made from things like beverages, baggage, and preferential boarding. Fortunately, those who are willing to fork over $2 for soda will likely be OK with also dropping a dollar or two to use the toilet. I just wonder how they will monitor this.

Bill Maher's hilarious, offensive, and enlightening film on how and why religion continues to shape our modern world is now on video and for sale. Directed by Larry Charles or Borat fame. I would recommend everyone to see it, no matter what your beliefs.
Obama announced plans today to finally withdraw from Iraq. America will draw down to 35-50,000 residual forces by August, 2010, and withdraw completely by the end of 2011. McCain sounds like he supports the plan while many others on the left like Pelosi and Kucinich are saying the residual force is too large, without really explaining why.
You can read the full transcript of Obama's address here.

A great review of the newly released Kindle 2 from our friends over at Engadget. It is an amazing piece of electronic, but out of my price range at $359. Read the review for yourself and see if you can justify dropping that kind of dough. Oh yeah the books are at least $9.99 on top of the $359.
[Thanks, Engadget]
Some great commercials that I have never seen.

Here is a great photo set of baby animals around the world. Try not to think too much into how all these babies are stuck in zoos.
Check in on Your County's CO2 Emissions

Check out this incredibly in depth collaboration of scientists and Google Earth, visualizing CO2 emissions by county. The site even breaks down the different sources in clear pie charts. Unfortunately the data is from 2002, but it's still a fun way to track our abuse of this planet. You will have to download a Google Earth plug-in, but its easy and worth it.
